Scouts & Parents – Tuesday night (18th) there was a special Committee
meeting to talk about and make a decision on whether to participate with the
Texas Veterans, raising money for them, and for our Troop. The Committee
was positive towards the event, so here we go.
The next step, I will meet with the Texas Vets Board of Directors on
Tuesday the 25th. With final approval from their board, we will be
ready.
What we have committed to, is to have (16) people available on Saturday Nov
11th, and (16) people available on Sunday Nov 12th. If we work two groups
per day, in four hours shifts – that will require 8 people for the morning
shift, 8 people for the afternoon shift (Total time, working from 8 am till 5
pm).
Since this is also Weblos Woods weekend, we will need a lot of parental
help on Saturday the 11th. We might can fill Sunday the 12th with mostly
scouts, since that is when we will be breaking camp. This will take
a lot of coordination, but we will get it done.
This is what I need everyone to
do:
1. Parents – Please keep
Saturday the 11th open on your calendar, and be prepared to
volunteer.
2. Parents - If you know an active duty service person, a
Veteran, or an Eagle scout we could enlist as volunteers, that would be
fantastic. So be thinking who you might could enlist. We
can start actively enlisting after we are approved by the board.
Assuming approval from the Veterans board, Rachel will send out a signup
genius, at that point, people can start signing up.
We will earn $500 per day, which equates to $7.80 per hour. So if
scouts work, that money will go into their scout account. If parents
volunteer, their earning can go towards their scout’s account, or the general
fund. If we get volunteers not really affiliated with troop members, their
earning will go to the general fund.
If this is successful, we will also do it during the Memorial Day weekend,
same process.
Thank you in advance for your support! IF you have questions, don’t
hesitate to call me.
