Fw: Sleeping bags for Troop 363

Great weekend for the Scouts – not so good for San Angelo.  If anyone experienced some damage, and could use some help from the troop, please let me know.

A reminder for the scouts from this weekend, please make sure the tents are dried well at your house.  Also make sure your packs and equipment get dried out before your store them.  Water does nasty things to good equipment.

Below is a note from our local Happy Trails Eagle Scout.  He has made some recommendations on sleeping bags.  They don’t carry the price range (today) that would suit a scouts need, but the units below, do meet the price requirement.  This is just something for you to use for comparing.  Sleeping bags are a big investment.  We don’t have another back pack planned till October, so there is no big rush (still not sure about July / August).  If your scout is enjoying what we are doing, then at some point, the investment in a good pack and sleeping bag will be made.

The on-line REI Coop store is having a huge sale right now, if you are interested, you may want to check it out.  J Helton

Good Afternoon Mr. Helton,

I was told through the grapevine that personal email was required from myself. I did a little research on sleeping bags through the brands that we would be able to offer you. I have ranked them starting with the best in personal preference after looking over the details and experience with brands and what I know they offer as well as price point. I have also included a link to the page where you will be able to look at them yourself; just click the name of the bag.

1.      Eureka-Kiewa

2.      Eureka- Lone pine

3.      The North Face- Aleutian

4.      Kelty- Callisto

When it comes down to it, it is all personal preference and I know you know that. But I think given the price range and types of activities the troop does any of the four sleeping bags above would suit the boys well. Let me know if you have any other questions or just want more background on the bags.

Feel free to contact me at Agjag00@PROTECTED or (325)-617-6248

Talk soon,

            Jacob Gonzalez
