Scouts & Parents -
First, we want to congratulate Westin Haralson and Garrett Paul, they were
called out at the OA ceremony last night. Congratulations! Katrina
Slayton . . . one of our scout Mom’s, also got called out during the
ceremony! Kevin Franke and a large number of our senior scouts helped put
an excellent ceremony together – well done.
Here is what we have coming up . . .
1. This Tuesday the 25th will be the last night for getting wet at
Baden Powell. We will be having a Patrol Canoe Challenge that all scouts
will be able to participate in. Meeting will start at 7:00.
2. The September campout will be at Camp Billie Gibbons (Abilene
Council) – Sept 18 – 20. A signup genius is out there. If you didn’t
see the invite, let me know.
3. October Campout – Not sure where we are going, but it will be Oct
16-18.
4. Spur Arena Shootout Cleanup – Saturday (24th) and Sunday evening
(25th) – 6:00 to 9:00. This is a fundraiser where we clean up the outdoor
roping arena after the competitions are complete.
5. Next Court of Honor – Tuesday, October 27.
6. November Camp – Weblos Woods, Nov 13 –15 at Baden Powell.
Red River is in January, popcorn can pay for a ski trip!
Last thing . . . We are quickly running out of daylight for our regular
meetings at Baden Powell. I like it there because it is the safest place
we can meet for Covid purposes.
We will be at Baden Powell for two more weeks through Sept 1st. Here
are our options after Sept 1st:
1. Start the meetings at 6:30. That would buy us another month
out at Baden Powell.
2. Meet in the Southland Baptist large Family room, do a lot of our
outdoor work under the parking lot lights. There is a Pastoral meeting at
Southland this Tuesday, they will talk about us coming back in.
3. Go to The Heights Baptist Church – Will Sherman has a large room
and parking lot we can use.
4. We can use the City Fire training building via Patrick
Brody.
I need to know parents thoughts about meeting at 6:30 for a month starting
Sept 1. Which scouts would this early start time eliminate?????
