Scouts & Parents – I heard from a hospital friend that there was not
one positively tested patient at Shannon today. That is awesome!
I’m hoping it won’t be long before the scouts can start meeting
again - outside.
We heard from our Summer
Camp today, everything is still good to go . . . for now.
We have three of our families
camping out at Baden Powell this weekend, working to complete Wilderness
Survival requirements. As long as we are adhering to social distancing
guidelines, we have permission.
I bring this up to give all our families something to think about. We
are missing our March and April campouts. If your family goes camping,
even in your backyard, it can be counted as a scouting night out. I would
encourage you to consider Baden Powell, or the State Park so it feels more like
a campout. While you are camping, scouts can work on cooking requirements,
and some other rank requirements. If you want to talk camping
opportunities, call me.
There is going be be one more week of Merit Badge University starting next
Tuesday the 21st. Signup should be this weekend. Kevin Franke will
be communicating about that.
I need scouts to be thinking about positions of leadership they are
interested in. We will be having our next election the very first chance
we are able to meet together.
Three of our Assistant Scout Masters and myself have been calling all the
scouts offering to work on
rank. If you are 1st Class and below, you should be working on rank
during this down time. Call me if you need to work and haven’t gotten a
phone call.
Everyone get out, get some exercise – healthy is a good place to be.
See you soon. J Helton
