Hello Parents,

It's POPCORN SEASON again!!  With so many boys and double the show and sell dates we had last year, I am really excited to see how the troop will do in  this year's popcorn sales!!

First and foremost,  your Scout MUST HAVE A TRAIL'S END ACCOUNT in order to receive credit towards any rewards and commission to go into their Scout account.  If your Scout does not have a Trail's End (TE) account, please go to www.trails-end.com to register them.  Follow the prompts and please be sure to record your Scout's TE User name and password, as well as, the Scout Code that is given during the registration process.  I will mention later why these are so important (LOOK FOR **** BELOW).  Your Scout will not be able to register and/or receive credit for the upcoming show and sells at Lowe's without the TE account.

Online sales through Trail's End began a couple of months ago.  So, please get your Scout their TE account and start sending out emails, texts, and FB/Instagram/Twitter posts.  Customize your Scout's TE account with videos, pictures, and their sales goal.  NOTE:  SHIPPING IS NOW FREE when customers purchase through the Scouts' TE accounts.  If a family member or a customer doesn't get the link to your Scout's TE account, they can also search for your Scout using their TE "Scout Code" (****)

All of this year's popcorn sales will be recorded and submitted ONLY through Trail's End as they will not only be able to sell online, but they will also be able to sell popcorn and gain access to their TE account via the NEW Trail's End app.  You can either download it on your phone/tablet, or on your Scout's, as long as you know the User name and password (​****).  The app will be necessary for show and sells AND door-to-door sales.  

**PARENTS:  Since the app is something so new and different from taking orders on the form, I will be passing out forms when the door-to-door sales begin so that you can shadow what your Scout is recording on the app and use it as a double-check.

The beauty of the app is that WE WILL NOW BE ABLE TO PROCESS CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS WITH NO CREDIT CARD PROCESSING FEES!!  While you may be able to manually type in all the credit card information, you can buy a square reader (credit card swiper) for the price of $7-$10 + tax.  If you already have a square reader, you may utilize it through the TE app.  You will not need the Troop's banking information in order to process credit cards since they will be processed through the TE app.  If you do not have a square reader and are interested in obtaining one, I will be placing a bulk order this Saturday (08/24/2019).  Please text me the following information at 432-288-2712:

The Lowe's Show and Sell (S/S) dates are available through the TE App.  The first S/S Event is this coming Sunday (08/25/2019) from noon - 2 pm.  The S/S are 2-hour events; however, if your Scout is only able to make it for 1 hour, please sign him up for that hour as the S/S events are split up into 1-hour "Shifts".  If he is available for both hours, or "Shifts", please register him for both "Shifts".  We ended up with 10 S/S Events.  Please register your Scout for a maximum of 8 S/S Events to allow other Scouts who may only be able to attend one or two S/S Events an opportunity to register without all the spots being taken.  As a last resort, I will only make adjustments to which Scouts can be at each S/S if there if there is no other alternative for someone who can only work 1-2 S/S Events, and I will only do so after contacting the parents.

AGAIN, if your Scout does not have a TE account and does not register for this S/S, he will not get credit for any of the sales at that S/S.  I will not be able to add him after the S/S begins.

**PARENTS: (particularly parents of younger Scouts) are strongly encouraged to stay if their Scout  is working the S/S, as we still need Two-deep leadership.  A Sign-Up Genius will soon be available for parents to register.    I will try to make it to all of them; however, I will need help with some of them.  

If I am unable to make it to a S/S Event, I will assign a parent (whose Scout is already registered to work that S/S Event) to run either a portion or an entire S/S Event.  They will need to bring their Scout's TE User name and password (​****) as they will then need to sign in to their Scout's TE account via the TE app.  Since everyone should already be registered, the app will automatically split up the sales accordingly even if only one device is being used.

BSA strongly encourages us, as parents, to work with our Scouts to "sell Scouting" NOT popcorn.  Scouts need to approach a potential customer with "Would you please help us reach our goal of going to Summer Camp or Philmont?", for example.  

Also, since a Scout is Trustworthy.....Courteous....Obedient.....Clean......,  Scouts must wear their Class A uniform with either Scout pants/shorts (no basketball shorts or sandals, please) to ALL S/S Events and when selling door-to-door.  If a Lowe's customer declines the popcorn, encourage them to make a tax-deductible donation of popcorn to our military men/women and families or a donation to our Troop.  However, if they still decline, a Scout must ALWAYS be Courteous, "Thank You.  Have a Blessed Day!!", for example.  

Last, but not least, Scouts working a S/S Event will be standing at ALL times and, for safety reasons, MUST remain in their assigned S/S spot at Lowe's, unless told otherwise.  We must know where our Scouts are at ALL TIMES.  Electronic devices will be allowed ONLY if it is being used to sell popcorn.  All other electronic device use during a S/S Event will be handled in the same manner as if the Scout uses it during a Scout meeting:  Phones will be taken up and given to the parent when the S/S Event is over.  

Any Scout who refuses to remain in their assigned S/S spot at Lowe's, has unauthorized use of an electronic device, or is disrespectful towards any Scout leader, parent, or fellow Scout, will be sent home.
